It’s a late night for me (it’s currently 10:19 PM) and it’s too late to take my sleeping pills so I thought I’d be somewhat productive and get some work done on the computer…which includes some random thoughts for me to share!
The reason it’s a late night is because I was at my monthly Bunco Party—which is in itself somewhat shocking to me since I’m not very social but it’s only once a month and it makes me feel like I’ve met my quota of hanging out with people other than my family—I actually won the biggest prize for having the most amount of Buncos: $25! Woot woot! 😛 It’s pretty fun, it’s a group of girls (mainly around the same age), and most of them I went to high school with. We all live in the same area, most are married with kids, so it’s nice to chat with other women who I have a lot in common with. If you haven’t played Bunco before, it gets intense! I’ll just say that there’s drinking and math involved…
My youngest sister, Katy, ended her engagement a few months ago and the place she bought her wedding dress from wouldn’t let her return it. She hadn’t even received the dress yet (we actually just received it the other day). I’ve been tasked with trying to sell the gown. If you know anyone who is looking for a really nice Hayley Paige wedding dress, unworn, unaltered, LET ME KNOW! I’ve got it up for sale on these three sites: Once Wed, PreOwned Wedding Dresses, and Tradesy (I’d prefer not to sell it through Tradesy because they take a buttload of commission). Other than eBay and Craigslist, if you know of any other place to list it, please let me know!
Which brings me to my next thought: Wedding are so G-damn expensive. I tried to tell my sister that it was a waste of money and to save her cash for something else, like a house, or even her honeymoon. Why spend so much on a party for other people that only lasts one day? Yes, I know it’s one of the biggest days of your life and you want to have those memories, etc. And yes, if you can afford a lavish wedding, then go for it, live your life! But if you’re maxing out your budget so you can post pictures on Instagram (yes, I’m being snarky), perhaps you’re not really thinking about the life that comes after you actually take your vows. Does anyone else watch Vanderpump Rules? I’m totally thinking about Tom and Katie…I know not everyone is like me (I got married in Vegas), but when I see wedding dresses that cost more than my entire wedding, it makes my jaw drop. My biggest wedding regret is that we didn’t have Elvis marry us. Now THAT would’ve been memorable (I think we didn’t want to spend the extra couple hundred bucks or something like that) 😉
On an unrelated note, Piper is now seven months old. Time is whizzing by. I knew that she wouldn’t be the same type of kid as Oliver, but man, is she a feisty little creature! And she’s so strong! She’s like a little beast, especially when she eats. Today, she was such a happy camper—You can tell she’s really starting to understand more and more as the days go on. I can’t wait to see more of her personality come through. Although Chris, Oliver, and I are all introverts and I suspect that she is going to be extroverted. I don’t know how I’m going to handle that! It’s like with my above mentioned sister, Katy, who is an extrovert: After a while, we tell her to stop talking!
As an introvert, I love spending time by myself. But as a mom to a seven month old, and a three year old, and I live in a house with them along with Chris, my mom, my sister Kelly, my dad (on weekends when he’s home from working in LA), Katy (who comes home almost every weekend as well), and two dogs (when Katy comes home it turns into four dogs!), I don’t get a lot of quiet time. Well, except for right now—but I’m sacrificing my sleep—or when I’m in the bathroom. I can’t tell you the last time I read a book…and I used to be such a bookworm. I’d read ALL THE TIME. I used to read at the dining table. I have a list of novels I really want to read, I guess I’ll get around to them at some point. It seems like when I do have free time, I either use that time to get stuff done (like right now) or I catch up on my DVR. I think I’m going to set a new goal: Instead of watching TV this week when I have some time, I’m going to read. Let’s see if I can accomplish this…
I do love television though. I’d consider myself a pop culture enthusiast (I’ve been a subscriber to Entertainment Weekly for 10+ years), and I love getting caught up in a good series. I just finished The Santa Clarita Diet with Drew Barrymore on Netflix and I thought it was pretty good, it’s the equivalent of a book you would read at the beach: light and funny. I loved Drew’s wardrobe and her insane amount of swearing (this is not a family friendly show!).
Alright, that’s enough off my mind for tonight. I felt like I should’ve started this post off by writing, “Dear Diary”! I’m going to try to get some sleep!
